Yesterday I went to Borders Bookstore and picked up a coins magazine. I couldn’t believe how interesting it was. I love going into bookstores and reading through magazines, but few interested me as much as this one. It was also very helpful in finding niches for build a niche stores. One article lead me to create this cool page on my US Coins Store website - Indian Head Gold Coins.
I find that magazines are one of the best things for brainstorming niches. The advertisements in the magazines show you immediately that there is a market for the products that are being advertised. Advertising in magazines is very expensive and if the advertiser can make enough from its magazine advertisement, you know that people are buying the product.
Therefore, if you are having trouble finding niches to write about on your blog, check out your local bookstore’s magazine section. You might find an awesome niche about 20 Saint Gaudens Gold coins.
March 18th, 2008 — Make Money With Ebay
Yesterday eBay announced that it was leaving Commission Junction. Most people around the net were discussing this move generally. However, for me, I was concerned how this news would affect the Build A Niche Store software.
In my last post, I mentioned that I was just about to start a new online income stream using the Build a Niche Store software. BANS is a great software script that allows you to quickly set up websites that promote ebay products. The BANS software allow you to constantly pull in ebay auctions to your website so that you can get people to come to your site then purchase ebay products and you make an affiliate commission.
All weekend I was trying to buy BANS. Unfortunately, the BANS site was offline all weekend due to a server attack. I woke up on Monday already to buy the BANS software download and then I read about ebay leaving the Commission Junction affiliate network. I don’t know how this is going to affect BANS. I bet that the BANS software will be quickly updated to make it compatible with ebay new in-house affiliate program, but I am still concerned. I sent an email to the Build a Niche Store Company yesterday, but so far I have not heard back.
Despite this ebay news, I think that I will still buy the BANS software on faith that it will work with the new ebay affiliate program. But, I wanted you guys to no about this issues.

What is the Key To Making Money Online?
As most of you know, I have been focused on learning how to make money online. I have been creating Squidoo lenses where I have been promoting affiliate products. I have been creating niche WordPress sites focused on very narrow niches and keywords. I have been creating niche Blogger blogs. And, I am about to purchase the Build a Niche Store software so that I can more easily sell ebay products.
This might sound simple, but it is something we all have to learn. You have to create websites and create content on the web in order to make money online. The biggest mistake that I tend to make is not creating enough content.
As stated in Field of Dreams, “if you build it, they will come.” Well, I am not sure that it is that easy, but I promise you that if you don’t build it, they will not come and you will not make any money online.
Most of the Internet marketers and bloggers that I have met who are making money online have many sources or streams of income. It is imperative that you start creating you multiple streams of income.
Why not just stick to one website?
If you are already meeting your financial goals with one website, then go for it. Stick with that one site. However, most of us are finding it pretty difficult to make money from just one website. Especially in the how to blog or how to make money online niche. So, go out there and create new websites.
Each new income stream that I try to produce I learn something new. I have a very specific focused strategy with Squidoo. And, I can tell you that I am now making some pretty decent money with Squidoo. I am also learning how to make made for adsense blogs. But, what I am learning is that I am not going to be able to retire off of one website. I am going to have to build a ton of them.

Tiffany Dow, one of the most famous users of Squidoo, is about to begin a new Squidoo Contest. In this Squidoo contest, participants will be creating pages using Squidoo’s Hey Mondkeybrain modules. Tiffany Dow has held several of these contests in the past, and they are great for learning how to use Squidoo.
This should be a really great contest. I followed one of Tiffany’s prior contests and learned a lot about how to get traffic to my Squidoo lenses. I am loving Squidoo. As most of you know, I do not hold myself out as a make money online guru. However, I will admit to you that I have started to make some decent money using Squidoo. So far this month I have make $120. I know that this is not a lot, but it is a great way to diversify and create multiple online income streams.
If you are interested in reading some of Tiffany Dow’s guide on how to make money using Squidoo, you should really check them out. Tiffany is a great writer and is a true Squidoo expert. Tiffany has two really excellent Squidoo ebooks.
The first one is Social Networking on Squidoo. This is a great beginner to intermediate guide on how to make money with Squidoo.
The second Tiffany Dow Squidoo guide is Flip That Lens. In this guide, Tiffany describes how you can make a lot of money quickly building Squidoo lenses and then selling them to other marketers. Flipping Squidoo lenses is a great way to make money fast on the Internet.
For me the best part about Squidoo is that I can create Squidoo lenses very quickly. This allows me to target a bunch of affiliate products hoping that one becomes successful. I have had great luck so far with Squidoo. My lenses rank very well with Google and Yahoo and they bring me very targeted visitors. I highly encourage you to buy one of Tiffany’s Squidoo guides listed above. I would definitely start with the Social Networking on Squidoo ebook.

Hey Fred, did you just say that I should pick a niche that I hate? Absolutely!
Too often I hear bloggers talk about the need to like what you are blogging about. Over the last year, I have learned that this is complete hogwash. Well, at least partially. Let’s explore this a little further.
For me, I break down blogging into two high level categories: flagship blogs and niche blogs. My flagship blog is Newest on the Net. However, I don’t make much money with Newest on the Net. On the other hand, my money blogs are my niche blogs. And, let me tell you a secret for these niche blogs. DON’T BLOG ABOUT WHAT YOU LIKE. BLOG ABOUT WHAT CAN MAKE YOU MONEY.
That was a very important lesson for me to learn. Every thing that I read said that I needed to blog about something that I am passionate in. But, you know what? For my niche blogs, I am passionate about making money. I am not doing these niche blogs to gather a huge following of RSS subscribers. I am creating these niche blogs to made money.
I have learned that I really don’t need to like what I am writing about. I just need to research the niche very thoroughly, and write articles from this research. And, despite not always loving the topics that I am writing about, I am motivated by learning more about Internet marketing, blogging for money, etc.
This is an important thing for us bloggers to learn. Sometimes you need to go against the grain. Don’t always listen to the professional bloggers.
